Secure Data Exchange Portal (SDEP)

What is the SDEP?

The Secure Data Exchange Portal (SDEP) is a secure mechanism for industry parties to transfer personal customer data between Parties to satisfy their obligations in the MRA and SPAA. The SPAA requires SPAA Supplier parties to use the SDEP when sending operational queries and escalations for named SPAA Schedules and the MRA mandates that MRA parties use this when sending operational queries and escalations that contain personal data relating to a consumer.

Who Should Use SDEP?

  • Energy Suppliers (both Gas and Electricity)
  • Electricity Distribution Network Operators

SCP 485 (Consequential Amendments following SCP 472 ‘Web based solution for sending Customer information securely’) proposes the consequential amendments to existing SPAA Schedules to clarify that information previously sent by email should be sent using the SDEP. SCP 485 was be implemented on 21 August 2020.
