What is the SDEP?
The Secure Data Exchange Portal (SDEP) is a secure mechanism for industry parties to transfer personal customer data between Parties to satisfy their obligations in the MRA and SPAA. The SPAA requires SPAA Supplier parties to use the SDEP when sending operational queries and escalations for named SPAA Schedules and the MRA mandates that MRA parties use this when sending operational queries and escalations that contain personal data relating to a consumer.
Who Should Use SDEP?
- Energy Suppliers (both Gas and Electricity)
- Electricity Distribution Network Operators
Changes to the SPAA
SCP 472 (Web based solution for sending Customer information securely) mandates that Gas Suppliers only (not Gas Transporters) use the Secure Data Exchange Portal to exchange personal data relating to Consumers for named SPAA procedures. SCP 472 will be implemented on 21 August 2020.
SCP 485 (Consequential Amendments following SCP 472 ‘Web based solution for sending Customer information securely’) proposes the consequential amendments to existing SPAA Schedules to clarify that information previously sent by email should be sent using the SDEP. SCP 485 will be implemented on 21 August 2020.
Obtaining Access to the SDEP
All Suppliers and Electricity Distributions Businesses will be required to accede to the terms and conditions of the service set out in the SDEP Access Agreement. Parties should:
- Review the terms and conditions of access set out in the SDEP Access Agreement; and
- Complete the relevant sections (Parts A-F) of the SDEP Application Form and submit this to Support.SDEP@Gemserv.com.
- Gemserv will validate this and send a completed version of the SDEP Access Agreement which should be signed and returned.
- Submit a signed copy of the SDEP Access Agreement to Support.SDEP@Gemserv.com.
All Suppliers (gas and electricity) and Electricity Distributions Businesses will be required to use the SDEP from the MRA and SPAA releases on 25 June 2020 and 26 June 2020 respectively.
